How Whatnot fees actually work.

Platform fee: ~8% of gross sale price (does not apply to shipping the buyer pays separately)
Payment processing: ~2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. The fixed $0.30 hurts most on small spots — 32 spots at $7 each costs $9.60 just in fixed fees.
Refund cost: when you refund, you eat the original platform fee AND keep paying the processing fee. Net hit ≈ refund amount + $0.30.
Combined shipping markup: when buyers consolidate orders across shows, Whatnot bundles ships at their negotiated rate, sometimes higher than direct USPS.
